For me, just adding "rmmmod snd_hda_intel" to the end of /etc/default/halt is 
not enough.
Maybe I need to stop things using the driver. Will invistigate; does anyone 
have a tip?
Where to put these commands?

(when logged in I can not just remove the driver, it is used, when not logged 
in i can
rmmmod snd_hda_intel.)
