I can unload the module and reload it fine (although I notice it doesn't reuse the same /class/input/input## number). There is one difference between what I was doing and what I did recently. When I first found this problem it was when I was putting my laptop in my docking station, so it was attached to an external display (and that is why I was closing the lid). When doing the check this morning with unloading the module and now with the patch it isn't in the docking station.
