It was in a computer I bought from a store, so it's not something I'm beta testing (at least not on purpose) for Toshiba or anything. I did disassemble my DSDT for fun and noticed some calls to _OSI but they were referencing "Windows 2001" (XP?) and "Windows 2006" (Vista?), not Linux. I'll try acpi_osi=Linux and let you know what happens. @#4: My main concern with getting ACPI to work is that Linux seems to constantly run the fans at low speed, so it gets rather hot and I wind up shutting down after 5-10 minutes in fear of damaging the hardware or something.
