Just tried acpi_osi=Linux. It had the same effect as acpi=noirq - interesting.

Slightly more interesting is that I tried acpi_osi="Windows 2006" and made it
to executing things from the initramfs (at which point the initramfs failed to
parse that due to the space and caused a kernel panic). Out of curiosity what
does Linux use for acpi_osi by default?
