You can also run something like

# /usr/sbin/rtcwake -m standby -s 2

standby is somewhat faster than suspend to ram and using rtcwake wakes up your
device automatically in 2 seconds.

Anyway, I can now confirm, several months later, than the issue does not
trigger  if you follow my advice from comment 62.
