Hi,
Some commit in v7.2.4...v7.2.6 introduced a regression that affects, at least,
my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 12.
I'm doing a bisect to let you know the exact commit, but for now I describe the
issue.
With kernel v7.2.6, the fan behaves normally for some seconds after booting up.
At some point, there is a speed peak, and after that the fan goes constantly on
and off at regular intervals, making a very annoying and distracting noise. The
fan speed is reported with a constant value of 65535 RPM, which looks like some
fixed value (0xFFFF) that cannot be interpreted as a proper speed. Perhaps this
detail for someone familiar with recent changes in the tree, can pin point a
place to look.
After quickly checking the changelog between these two releases I did not find
anything related to thinkpad_acpi, but I guess we will learn more after the
bisect.
