Subject: RE: [ActiveDir] Unable to add an additional domain controllerCan you tell me the FQDN of the existing DC and then compare that to what you are entering for this new proposed DC? Also can you do an nslookup on the FQDN (just the domain, not the machine) from your existing dc and the new one you are going to put on. This will help determine if you are having issues with DNS (specifically reverse zones). You may want to check the FSMO roles of the existing DC too and make sure everything is good there.

Hi Diane,
Thanks for your help. I checked the status of my sysvol folder and it is
shared already, I have also checked article Q283133 and I checked all
the items that were mentioned there with my setup and all corresponded
and were ok on my dc but yet I still cannot join the domain, do you have
any other suggestions.Thanks
Seyi

Subject: RE: [ActiveDir] Unable to add an additional domain controllerSee Q283133. Verify that the sysvol is shared out on your running DC.
There are a lot of Q articles on this type of error. Do a KB search on

had the same problem. Set up Microsofts DNS on your DC.
Add your DNS-servers IP-address to the reverse lookup zone manually.
Test your DNS with nslookup from command-prompt.

Title: RE: [ActiveDir] Unable to add an additional domain controller
It
more than likely your AD systems and DDAN not working properly when you setup
your AD in the first place.
solution is to reinstall your AD and let your
AD setup to finish the job of setting up DDNS.
