We do this on a regular basis with W2K and see nothing in W2K3 that would
change it. As long as it demotes properly and you make sure its entries are
cleaned up you should have no problem. We have literally replaced hundreds
with machines of the identical name.

Coincidentally, I was listening to a Mark Minasi webcast today and he
explicitly mentioned that reusing a DC name is a bad idea. He didn't go into
details, but I think you've found evidence of why he said that.

Not that it matters now, but upgrading server A instead of rebuilding it
would have let you keep the same server name.

No we ddinot, and cant also because clients knows with this name.But
demoting the server was sucessfull why i cant add with the same name?Or how
