Did you delete this server object from ADU&C? If not, that's probably what you need to do.

I apologize for not doing my homework first, but I'm in a pickle and need help fast.

 

One of my domain controllers (which held all the fsmo roles) crashed and I had to reinstall.

Now that I've reinstalled, I'm ready to rejoin and promote. But I can't; I get "User already exists" when trying to join.

I am using the same computer name as before. I have not deleted or changed anything in the directory on the other server yet.

What do I need to do to get my old server back as a domain controller?

Links to articles or even words to search by would be of great help.
