We use the MKS toolkit - a suite of unix-ish programs which also includes
ksh and sh - and it works reasonably well. The perl that comes with it is
old and broken, but other than that, it has awk, sed, ps, cut and about 250
others, including man pages. It's not free (or at least I don't think it
is), but then I've tried a few freebies before with pretty dismal results.
Plus, they're from my old stomping ground of Waterloo, Ontario, so they
can't be all bad.
That said, if anyone knows of a good (working) implementation of tcsh or
bash I'd love to know where to find it (commercial or free). By working I
mean tab completion, command line history, etc. I'm not a big fan of the NT
command "shell" but as I have to do quite a bit of my work on NT (we support
NT, Solaris and HP/UX), anything that would make it more friendly would be
welcomed.
