SCCS? I didn't think anyone still used that. Still, that is far better
than no source code control at all. Isn't failure to use source code
control a capital offence where you are? Or is that how the employee
became ex :-)

It is certainly possible to have multiple version of Perl. The main
problems stem from maintaining multiple versions, and making sure you
are using the correct one at any time.

Another possibility may be to recover the source code from the
executable and make the necessary changes. This should be possible, but
exactly how would depend on the tool used to create the executable. This
would probably require more effort, but may be a better solution in the
long term. Assuming, of course, that "get.exe" has a long enough life
expectancy.
