Also, if you have to "git tech-nee-cal wivvit" you might want to trawl comp.lang.python; there's lots of *technical* python advocacy in comp.lang.python
Of course, if you really want to see entrenched opinion in operation, I suggest you go to slashdot, wait for a subject involving perl or, more likely, some hideous perl application, then drop a few comments like "oh, in *python* you can do that a lot easier/cleaner/faster" or "perl 6 - isn't that a clone of Python?"
