More info:

I am using ActiveScaffold from:
git://github.com/activescaffold/active_scaffold.git

I have been able to reproduce this issue, starting from scratch.

I generated a new application, ran the model generator, edited the
migration rake task to add a single string column.

Then I ran the controller generator.

After that, I installed the active_scaffold plug-in with:
script/plugin install git://github.com/activescaffold/active_scaffold.git

I had to manually create a testmodels.html.erb page under app/views/
layout

In any case, ActiveScaffold displays the page perfectly, except that
the application.html.erb is not processed.

Here is the output from rake routes:
>rake routes
(in /home/bentai/workspace/testserver)
              testmodels GET    /testmodels
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"index"}
    formatted_testmodels GET    /testmodels.:format
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"index"}
                         POST   /testmodels
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"create"}
                         POST   /testmodels.:format
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"create"}
           new_testmodel GET    /testmodels/new
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"new"}
 formatted_new_testmodel GET    /testmodels/new.:format
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"new"}
          edit_testmodel GET    /testmodels/:id/edit
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"edit"}
formatted_edit_testmodel GET    /testmodels/:id/edit.:format
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"edit"}
               testmodel GET    /testmodels/:id
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"show"}
     formatted_testmodel GET    /testmodels/:id.:format
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"show"}
                         PUT    /testmodels/:id
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"update"}
                         PUT    /testmodels/:id.:format
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"update"}
                         DELETE /testmodels/:id
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"destroy"}
                         DELETE /testmodels/:id.:format
{:controller=>"testmodels", :action=>"destroy"}
                                /:controller/:action/:id
                                /:controller/:action/:id.:format

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Somehow, the above output looks brain damaged.

So, as a curious learning exercise, how can I trace, step-by-step,
rails is calling to see why it is ignoring application.html.erb?

Thanks,
Tom S.
