Yeah, I just figured that out, too.  Actually, I have another idea:

in app/views/active_scaffold_overrides/_list_record.html.erb:
...
if defined?(tr_class).nil?
  tr_class = cycle("", "even-record even-record-")
  tr_class += "#{list_row_class(record)}" if
respond_to? :list_row_class
end
...

That preserves the original "even-record" semantic but also adds a
"even-record-class" attribute, allowing you to figure out when a row
corresponds to "class" and is an "even-record".
