Hi Meredith, UTSA's Risk and Life Safety Manager resides in the Office of Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management. He reports directly to our VP for Business Affairs.
Institutional Compliance & Risk Services (my office) reports through the Chief Legal Officer to the President. This is a new set-up for us; a change that happened about two years ago. On a smaller scale (and stepping away from ERM a bit) all university risks marked as "high" have individual risk owners - VP level only with a direct line to the President. Our policy management is housed in University Compliance, and as a department, we work closely with the Risk Manager on a daily basis. We are looking for models of organizational responsibility, function, and reporting regarding Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). Our 10,000 student public university has the Risk Manager charged with implementation. Would the reporting and oversight of ERM and the Risk Manager be best housed in Compliance?
