Ack! I hate to bring this up, but I assume it will eventually come up
anyway. Should a differentiation be made between free vs. opensource. What
about simply defering to a "best tool for the job and budget" philosophy,
with the one criteria being that the code is open and freely available.
These items don't necessarily have to be included in the mission statement
per se, but should be noted somewhere.
Sorry, I'm just trying to kick all of the cats out of bag early.

Agreed. I have a feeling that's why the original mission statement was
written the way it was. However, I worry that the current mission statement
says too little.
