This is sillyness. Zope,. php, perl and Java while much in common in terms of uses are really targetted at different product spaces as well as offering different solutions to common problems. That is really the basis of there commonality. From there on they take radically different directions in what they provide , design capabilites feature sets etc etc. For example: While phpnuke is a good product, ( i use is it in select deplyments) nothing against it, it is hwover plagued with security issues and not capable of a say a portal solution for an enterprise. No extendability beyound contrib modules and not veritcally scalable. Workflow is non existant, (hence the reference to mimersdesk..org....and awsome groupware package all in native perl) While phpnuke a good product it plays in a differnt space, hence different capabilites thats all. In the final analyis any solution will suck if it not designed to a specfication or requirements document. Even zope will miss the target if there is no detailed requirements list from which to design a solution. IMHO there is no such thing as an ideal product, tool kit or solution. Its always a balanceing act between whats currently available, what the requirement is and what the magnitude of the allocated budget is. Zope's strength is that it provides and extend tool kit via python, and contributed products, once you know how to use it/program with it, your time cylces are drastically reduce, with a corallary reduction in development time which has a direct impact on the budject or conversely profit margin. I just pick the best tool for each job...:) YMMV....:) Anyways I just put in a 13 hr day and need some sleep. Getting too grouchy and sensitive.
