  - Next big step will be the GOSLING portal. This is being done by GTIS,
so we are in a 'wait til they get things up and running' mode.

  - In the interim I have been directing people to
http://www.canopener.ca/mailman/listinfo/discuss as a list to discuss
things. Some list needed to be chosen, and that existing one seemed
to match best (Better than creating 'yet another list'). We will have
lists and other types of forums on the new portal as well, but not
    right away.

  - The media attention will be great to get more people together, and
also hopefully from other levels of government. We have a core group
of feds in Ottawa, but want to go beyond that.

One thing we'll need to get past within our existing community is the
current debate around "Geeks in government". Some believe that any
activism and public policy discussion will be harmful to linux/OSS, while
others (IE: myself) believe that such work is critical for the ongoing
growth of OSS/FS.

We need to start to discuss how to approach each type of government.
What are the needs? What are the public policy areas that are of
interest? My experience so far has suggested that the upper-management
types and "representatives" are more interested in fiscal issues, while
longer-term bureaucrats are interested in more diverse public policy
issues.
