Well, first off, I would dump steps 5 and 6 and just export the movie
straight to AVI, instead of dumping to tape, then re-capturing. That should
save you quite a bit of time right there. I'm not working in 16:9 just yet,
so I have no other suggestions to help you out.

Good luck,
Glen in Vegas

Subject: [AP] Maintaining Widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio

Hi!

I have video footage recorded at 16:9 widescreen camera setting. I would
like to create DVD maintaining the 16:9 aspect ratio.
I have found a round about way to do this, and would appreciate if anyone
has tips to do this in less and simple steps - I am on windows.

The steps I found so far to be working are as follows:

1. Captured video footage in a new project - chose D1/DV NTSC Widescreen
16:9 (1.2) for Pixel Aspect Ratio in the Project Settings dialog box.

2. Edited and exported the movie as AVI choosing D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9
(1.2) for the Pixel Aspect Ratio.

3. Created a new project in Premiere, this time selected a DV-NTSC Standard
(4:3 aspect ratio) for the Project Settings.

4. Imported the movie created in step 2, placed it in the Timeline, chose
Clip > Video Options > Maintain Aspect Ratio. Rendered the movie.

5. Exported the movie by choosing File > Export movie > Export to tape.

6. Captured this movie/footage in a new project in premiere - choosing NTSC
standard 4:3 aspect ratio.

7. Exported movie as AVI using 4:3.

8. Used this AVI to create DVD.

This is such a lengthy process and very time consuming. Would appreciate
suggestions to achieve the following in quicker time.

A) Export widescreen 16:9 footage on tape (mini DV) back, with same aspect
ratio and
B) Create DVD from widescreen 16:9 footage, maintaining the aspect ratio.

Thanks.
Renu
