I have a system running 6.5 on WinXPProSP2, replacing two older systems
that used a Canopus DV Raptor card for capture and display. It was the
original, pre-real time preview card, and I missed it in the new system for
a while, but the core duo processor and the right settings have me as
satisfied as in the day. I don't think you could find a video card in a
mainstream retail shop that wouldn't be fine for his system. Provided you
have a firewire port other than the Matrox, any current card will do the job.

suggestions needed! my hubby's video card died (was matrox rtx-100).
he's quite happy with AP 6.5 (yeah, i know, but he's a relic too)and
we need to find a less-expensive option at this point (he was laid off
his job a month ago) he counts on me for tech stuff- he just wants to
edit, so i'm trying to help. i believe that he can use something
cheaper with good results, thinking that the matrox was kind of high-
end in part because it has it's own effects-correct? can anyone give
me basic specs for a temporary fix that'll still do basic editing
chores easily?
thanks in advance,
                   Adriane
p.s. system is an alienware area 51 i believe, about 4 years old. got
a good enough processor & 4 gb ram, running WIN Xp SP2.
