So using this thread as a lifeline, I've changed my export settings 
to Microsoft Uncompressed Avi, and was able to change the video 
setting (finally from standard def of 720 x 480 to 1440 x 1080) but 
the compressor setting now says 10 bit yuv.

I have no idea why the orginal setting wouldn't allow for higher def 
standard, but larger.....what the heck does 10 bit yuv mean????
