Hardware is different though, all your hardware needs to support 64bit and a 64 bit driver. in my case only my sony photo camera and a m-audio midi controller didn't support 64bit. you can check on the website from the hardware manufacturer' s if there are drivers for your hardware. It's rather like a scratch disk, but for the OS. The OS will try to manipulate data in main memory, because it's much faster than any other method. However, there's a limited amount of memory available for files, especially when programs are also being memory hungry, so the OS will create a temporary area on a HDD to use for data that won't fit within memory limits. This is the swapfile area and is usually dynamically created and used. When the OS has finished with it, the area is marked for re-use by anything that needs it. Better to have this area defined on as fast a HDD as possible, whilst also maintaining as large a 'chunk' as possible to ensure that swapfiles will fit within it. Swapfile limits can be set by the user, but read the manual first. :-) > > Regards, > > Alan. > > www.theatreorgans. co.uk > www.virtualtheatreo rgans.com > Admin: ConnArtistes, UKShopsmiths, 2nd Touch & A-P, HauptwerkODFWriters groups > Shopsmith 520 + bits > Flatulus Antiquitus > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Donald Cailler > To: Adobe-Premiere@ yahoogroups. com > Sent: Sunday, October 19, 2008 2:39 AM > Subject: Re: [AP] NEW VIDEO COMPUTER > > Thank you...now I understand it better...what do you mean by a swapdisc? thanks for your help and patience... > > . > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
