I live in Kolkata (India) where High Definition are slowly in
progress. Some Broadcast Media are using HDV (Sony), which has a
rectangular pixel aspect ratio of 1.33333 not 1.0 (i.e. square
pixel). But due to the current market situation I still don't know
which of the High Definition format will be predominant in our
market. There are too much competing HD Formats, and many are
sprunging up frequently. Currently I am making some Motion Graphics
for that purpose in Progressive 1920x1080 square pixel uncompressed
format for future use. But it is becoming very nessesary for me to
store these graphics files in the machine, and on the other hand it
is taking a huge disc space in that resolution. So once I decided to
cnvert the files through premiere, in 1440x1080i (1.333)HDV 1080i(50)
M2V format, which can be imported to HD-SDI 1080i projects without
distortion or any further interpretetion. But the most important
question to me is that: what will be the resultant quality of an M2V
file in comparison with a HD-SDI Project after mixing it together.
Will the quality of the final HD rendered file be noticable? What
format should I use for storing High Definition Graphics Files so
that I can use it for all types of High Definition projects such as
those from Panasonic P2, Sony XDR, Sony HDV, RED Cameras and others,
without sacrificing quality but saving disc space?
