> So it depends on what you do, everything is relative.

Agreed. But for the more common case for a single camera with an
external audio recorder, you do have to think about if it's slipping a
few frames over longer takes (worth testing with a particular setup
before you rely on it for important stuff).

 > I was thinking earlier today about how deejays in the past would
create the phased audio effect by using two identicial vinyl records on
two turntables and first sync them and then get them out of sync a tiny
little bit on purpose which wasn't difficult to do of course, it was
harder to keep them in sync :-)

Yes, that's exactly the same principle. In audio that effect is called
flanging, it was actually first done with two tape machines
(apparently), including by the Beatles.

 > I used the AF101 (AF100) for a while, it has genlock, but I didn't
like the electronic noise and the blurry image, I find the image quality
of the GH2 better. So the decision to the sell the AF101 again wasn't
difficult to make :-). So I wouldn't recommend it to you either. Yes it
has genlock but it's also about 6 times as expensive as the GH2 and
image quality is worse as the GH2.

Good to know. Genlock is kinda needed for high-end 3D, but the
workaround (powering both cameras up simultaneously) works reasonably
well for short takes, as long as you're lucky and your two bodies don't
drift apart too fast.

 > Is the GH2 the only "DSLR" cam you used so far?

Yep. Before I had a Canon HV20 camcorder.

 > I love the image of the 7D but the moire effect can be problematic
(depending on what you do) and it has the annoying 12 minute clip
duration limit.

I think you can't beat the GH2 for video in its class, even more so now
with the high-bitrate hacks. And more hack work is being done to
improve other areas (eg. the 'film modes', hopefully reducing in-cam
sharpening further etc). Plus you get a very small & lightweight body.
I use Panny's two ultra-tiny pancake primes (14mm & 20mm), so my setup
is really small & lightweight.

But of course everyone's priorities are different.
