As mentioned by others, true DVD copy protection isn't a barrier for a
determined personÂ… an RCA cable running from a player output to a recorder
input is all that is needed to copy any DVD you desire. However, the Spartan
Fortress line of duplicators makes discs that will play on a standard DVD
player but adds a file to the disc that appears corrupted to a computer DVD
drive. The "protected" disc will not play in a computer (without a hacking
program), a DVD duplicator or a DVD/VCR combo unit and therefore cannot be
copied. The average person will not know how to overcome this issue. I've
used a Fortress for some time and I've not heard of anyone copying my work. (I
always put a notice on the order blank and on the disc that it is "copy
protected" and will not play on computer-type drives.)
