We recently upgraded to v5232 server on AIX and immediately started getting "ANR8447E No drives are currently available in library" errors when running our "backup stgpool". Sometimes it would run for 1 minute and immediatley fail and sometimes it would run for several hours and then fail. After it fails once, we can't run the "backup stg" again until we recycle the server. I opened a problem with IBM support but have since gone back to v5230 since we eeren't having this problem in that version. I had to close the PMR because I was unwillingly to install v5232 just to get a trace to send them. They said they searched through their database and found no other hits. I have since spoke with an IBM consultant who said he has another customer who is having the exact same problem so it looks like it wasn't only us. According ot the readme for v5232, Apar ANR0985I is fixed by the 5232 level which has to do with the "backup stg" command. IBM support insists that this isn't related to the problem which was apparently introduced in v5232.
Anyone else seeing this same problem? Our TSM server. AIX 5.1 TSM v5230 (v5232) 2 3494 Libraries attached via fiber. One local and one remote but both managed by same TSM server. John
