What makes you think Sun didn't do this?   The soon-to-be-released Adobe Acrobat
for OpenSolaris & Solaris x86 is one example of a company heavily lobbied by Sun
to port.   When it comes to dealing with other companies, you're not going to
know most of what happens, because it happens behind closed doors - not all
companies are interested in transparency or in weakening their position in
ongoing negotiations by having details made public.

Again, been happening for years.  In the area I'm most familiar with, Intel &
nVidia work with us to make sure their new graphics products have drivers when
released.
