Although activity stopped late last year Lou summarized some good Advocacy ideas for the Mentoring at opensolaris.org project here: http://www.genunix.org/wiki/index.php/OpenSolaris_Mentoring http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/mentoring/
We really could use more help. I figure we are looking at two tracks, and if anyone is willing to work on either track, please join the list and let us know: 1) University outreach, especially if you have contacts with University compsci depts. Basically we need to work with university compsci programs to identify students that are interested. We probably should coordinate with user groups on this effort. 2) Right now another thing we need to do is go to the various groups on opensolaris.org and gather prerequisites for what the requirements for a career in a given field are. e.g. - What background does a technical writer need? What do I need to study if I want to become a Solaris kernel developer? etc. Cheers, Brian P.S. - I apologize for the drop-off in mentoring activity, things have been hectic and chaotic in my day job. (I changed jobs in November). -- - Brian Gupta http://opensolaris.org/os/project/nycosug/ http://www.genunix.org/wiki/index.php/OpenSolaris_New_User_FAQ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
