what about all those religious pictures which were intended to

meditation on the Sacred ? Not make believe,not separate from
normal human
consciouness,not decoupled from practical concern. Or not if one
remembers that religious awareness was believed to be real,part
of one's
existnce at every turn,and of immense practical moment due to the
assumption
