Heaven and Hell is relatively real to the players that lost, and
those that won.
Their mind-set will be at opposite ends for a while , after the game.

Dutton wants to distinguish between imaginative make-believe and
purely
practical concerns.
This is problematic because practical concerns require make-
believe to be
successfully resolved, and no make-believe can avoid having some
practical
consequences - even if it's only the time lost while make-believing.
But if we're willing to allow a narrow enough scope to "practical"
to say that
Heaven and Hell is make-believe, then, with that same narrow scope,
we would
also have to say the same about the World Series of Baseball,
because the
success or failure of a baseball team in the world series has no
practical
consequence for the fans.
They wake up the next morning, and their lives are the same.
(which is why, as a compulsion, Sports is so much safer than
Gambling, Sex, or
Drugs)
