I've seen a lot of shows in the NC Museum of Art, big traveling shows and major exhibitions of their own (destined for traveling), and in almost all of them in the last few years, they've nailed little lath strips to the floor about 3 feet from the wall, a line not to be crossed, and if you even lean forward to look closely at the surface detail, a guard walks up and very seriously asks you to lean back.
