Yes, I've seen the same floor strips in various museums. But in Detroit, no strips no ropes, no glass. You can get within an inch of some great paintings, one of them a Jan Van Eyck! The museum was nearly empty, no guards in sight. Just a few very alert docent volunteers. It reminded us of Vienna, where docents followed us from room to room all the way through...maybe they were assigned to us). In Detroit we parked right in front of the museum at a meter for 2 bucks! It is a truly a beautiful museum in a near empty city. Terrific late medieval work. WC
