Their key terms tend to be so general as to defy falsifiability. E.g.: "Things". Is "medical treatment" a "thing"? Are ocean-going vessels a "thing"? Also notice the lack of any specifics about time. "Computers have gotten better and better!" "Give them time. They'll get worse." Also beware of rhetoricians who think they've aquitted themselves and convicted you when they say, "That's not what I meant."
