In olden days the victor in a contest was awarded a palm, as in leafy thing. When Ghiberti won the commission to make the doors for the rehabbed Bapistry in Florence, (c.1400) he bragged that he was awarded the palm of victory.

I'm having a hard time with scriptions and subscriptions, prescription, descriptions, all kinds of script-looks. I'm confused. Does Cheerskep have a wand or a palm? Maybe he has a wand in the palm of his hand? That would be his wand-hand, btw. Is he a wand-erer or a palmist? Gad.
