Her BF was belted in. No injuries. She drove like a bat out of hell and never wore a belt unless she was rinding with me, and even then it was a psychological battle of the wills to enforcement. So it is a personal crusade of mine. In other news has my first MRI today. Was not expecting to get so hot. They gave me a disk of images. Looks like I have 3 herniated disks. Official news to come. It's odd that back when I was a kid, and they were talking about making a mandatory seat belt law, there were lots of people up in arms over it. One of the common reasons I heard was "If you're in a rollover, you're better off being ejected." Ummm... no. People who don't wear seat belts are either stupid or suicidal. Incidentally, they're still looking for the U-Haul driver, who didn't even stop. They're assuming he was unaware of what was going on to the side and behind him. In addition to wearing your seat belt, always be sure to check your mirror before you pull out to pass. Rotating in all possible axes (axes is the proper plural of axis, I actually looked it up). Watching for people to come flying out of the vehicle, I was dialing 911 while trying to cross a very busy street. Van came to a rest on its side. A man and his daughter came climbing out the back window. Superficial scratches. Shaken up, but largely unharmed. They had mounted the curb and hit a fire hydrant. The hydrant came to rest half way from where it was originally and where the car came to rest. Quite a scene normally seen in movies. End over end, spinning and rolling. It must have been 6’ off the ground when I first saw it. I feared the worst. For a time I was an EMT when I was young. Glad to have had the training, did not like being an EMT. I would say seat belts saved them from certain critical injury and most likely death. Hope everyone always wears their seat belts.
