It will be interesting to see what happens.

There has been a lot of discussion within WinnForum over coordination in GAA,
and there is little consensus even in WinnForum over how GAA should be managed.
Lots of camps. Some of the SAS operators feel they are responsible for
efficient use of GAA spectrum (which the FCC said) but the FCC also, in the
same report and order, said that it’s ‘like unlicensed’ and it’s up to the
operators to work out.

The compromise is the idea of ’single frequency groups’ where you can match
timing settings, the idea being to avoid assigning the same or overlapping
frequencies to operators on different timing schemes. Unfortunately support
for this varies between SAS’s, and last I saw Google was doing very little to
even check what was already in use before accepting a GAA request. Federated
does a little more, and I don’t know where the rest of the SAS’s are.

For better or worse - I’m willing to bet the Cambium gear suffers far less from
the noise than the LTE gear. It’s going to suck for everyone when there is
contention. It will be interesting to see if the telco’s give up first or
just keep blasting away.
