This depends highly on what your looking for. If you are looking for
something to use in a datacenter/office that is environmentally friendly
then most of the juniper/cisco/brocade solutions will work another good
one is dell.
If you want to retain something that wont die when the temperature gets
high or loose fans in a dusty environment. If you only need basic L2
then I would recommend the ciena 3928 they are pretty cost efficient
with basic L2 license If you need more 10G ports there is the 5160. If
you are wanting IP features then I would go with Nokia 7210 MXP or for
high capacity 10G and 100G 7250 IXR. I know most people would think they
are crazy expensive, but they are less expensive than cisco with better
features. They can go crazy on the support contracts if you get the full
featured management platform NSP, but at the lowest level which would be
most people its not to bad.

So who's your preferred vendor for carrier switches?
Suppose you want to break away from buggy Latvian switches, who would
you look at today?
Ciena? Adtran? Cisco? Juniper?
