That is what I supposed. He is hunting the big game right now,
government grants. To do that he has to show that he feeds off little
people as well as whales The video I shared was a very poor test.
Reading through the FAQ it's explained that dishes are tied to "cells"
which is a particular string of sats over a particular area sounding
about 25 miles radius, but varying by sat pattern geometry.. Just had
a friend get his, and set it up about 70 miles from his registered
location and it initially connected then quickly disconnected and gave
him a hocus-pocus no no message..

Nobody mourned the end of dialup or ISDN. When the end of fixed
wireless comes, nobody will mourn that either. The world will move on
and you'll have to adapt to it.
But I'll be a lot more worried about Starlink if they get allocated
more spectrum. 2ghz sounds like a lot, but not that much compared to
what they're trying to do.

It will be a challenge for sure, but in cases where WISPs can offer
100mbit+ speeds to customers (usually due to few/no trees), they
should be able to compete fine.
Or cases where customers are surrounded by trees and Starlink won't
work - but in those cases they need to be ready to spend up to a few
thousand dollars for a tower for WISP CPE.
