This is not a concern here.. Each shelf has a BMS with current limiting, and a physical breaker on the output of the shelf. LiFePO4 does not suffer from the thermal runaway issues traditional lithium batteries do, and of course they are inside steel cases.
Regarding fixed generators, California commercial generator regulations are too much of a pain to deal with to ever incent me to go that path. We are happy to have battery runtimes greater than 99% of our power outages, and portable generators we can deploy if necessary.
