Hi,

I'm looking for cost effective recommendations for out of band serial console access (RJ11 RS-232, typically 9600 buad) to various pieces of network gear (transport, MPLS/IP, CMTS/OLT). 200+ brick and mortar buildings and pole mounted cabinets throughout the country so nationwide access required.

This would only be needed when a POP becomes isolated from in-band management so bandwidth requirements are minimal as well as data plan usage. Maybe pasting a very large config files but no firmware loads or WWW access required.

What method do you use across all carriers for on-demand access to the remote console servers? Static IP address, VPN, triggered call-home, private cloud, etc.?

And is IOT type service (LTE-M) good enough or is standard LTE/4G required.

Thanks in advance.
Dave B.
