When I looked at my current role there insurance did not kick in for 90
days, I was paying $2k per month for private market insurance for my family
of 4. I pointed out their decision to not start insurance on day one would
cost me $6k and that would affect my decision to take the role. After a
little more pushing on them, they ended up giving me a 6k sign bonus to
offset the 90 days of private insurance.
