Sounds like Nextel/iDEN 2.0. It may be attractive for nationwide businesses like FedEx, UPS and DHL, etc. where you could have fleet management over a private broadband network. UPS gave up on their own private 220MHz network long ago and went to the cellco's. So what would be the point of trying to do this today? Cellular is already available, like everywhere.

And equipment from Motorola Solutions? What, TRBO? Why? Two-way/PTT was the cool thing back in the day. Today, you make a phone call or send a text message. Two-way still has its place, but it's limited.

Public safety agencies? No. In Illinois we have the Motorola owned and operated Starcom-21 and a majority of the cities and counties don't want to pay Motorola access and equipment fees. Only the agencies that already had a Motorola trunked network went to Starcom-21 because they got very reduced rates from surrendering their 800 licenses and tower leases to Motorola. Yet another reason why Motorola went to shit. You're never gonna get all of the agencies to agree on anything.

Not particularly surprising given the billions of dollars some companies are throwing at startups for something they could do themselves for $100 million or so.

Better question is what are they smoking that makes them think
they're going to do broadband in 2 3MHz channels? Presumably 3 for
    uplink and 3 for downlink.
