I've been replacing cf bulbs with the Cree led bulbs for about a year now. Great bulbs, no failures yet.
One challenge with all of these devices is heat buildup in the fixture. Enclosed or vertical fixtures trap the heat from the electronics, causing the bulb temperature to rise, causing premature failure. This is typically the cause of cf early failure.
