You are absolutely right about the preview. You are expecting a bond type thriller.
But when their version of Q mentioned that the shoes used to have a phone in the heel, I started to catch on... Even before that, the opening scene with (bad guy) Samuel L Jackson with a lisp and unable to see blood was a bit of a tip off... The big finale “fireworks scene” was truly worthy of a Monty Python film. I just about busted a gut laughing at that scene. The preview didn’t set the expectation that it was a parody. The execution was that it was neither funny or clever. And Colin Firth was great which was a waste. The training sessions were pretty good too. The rest of it, pretty much juvenile and unfunny. Once you catch on that this is a parody of a bond film with a bit of Austin Powers and Monty Python thrown in it changes how you view the thing. It wasn’t funny and detracted from what could have been a good movie. You had great actors, Colin Firth, Michael Caine, and a clever plot. The previews didn’t mention that Seth Rogen consulted on the dialog which meant that is was better for 12 year olds than adults. I expected more class. And one section with special affects not only wasn’t funny, it was flat out stupid. Airplane, great movie and clever. Kingsman, an embarrassment and a waste of time. It’s not even worth the $1.50 at NetFlix when it gets there. Next stop, Jupiter Rising. My wife says I’ve lost my movie picking privileges for a while. Very disappointing, great premise. Rory
