Seems like a lot of work for a single site.
We use the hybrid cable like Lewis mentioned and we also use the hangers but negate the extra run of
wire for power.
I also used a CMM4 to do everything your box does.

ALL of our major towers (100 people or more) and all new builds have fiber up. We use Outside Plant (same as we use for FTTx) up the tower, and use 1/2 hoisting grips with 1/2 snap-in hangers. We then use Corning CCH-CF patch panels at the top and a rack mount at the bottom. As for power, we run Liquid Tight ARMORED conduit and use 7/8 hoist grips and snap-in hangers. We do run 120v to the top, and put an outlet box at the top. Then we down-convert to 24v with PacketFlux sync and PoE gear. For the 1-off like airfibers, we then just use a PoE injector at the top.

BE SURE TO USE GROUND KITS ON ALL FIBER AND ELECTRICAL CONDUIT AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM!

We then use a Sinewave Inverter/Charger (Xantrex Freedom SW) and BIG telecom batteries for the UPS.

The only damage we have sustained was because lightning hit the transformer directly and actually blew it up. The power company had to replace it totally

*Subject:* [AFMUG] Fiber up the tower vs. ethernet

We are seeking feedback from people that are using fiber up the tower instead of Cat5. Interested to know what equipment (power) you are running at the base, and what equipment (switches, routers, POE, Ethernet protection etc.) that you have at the top.

How is it working for you? Has having everything at the top proved to be much more stable? Its kinda scary to change from our current way of doing it, but power surges are kicking are butt, clobbering radios on the Ethernet side (mostly ePMP).

Looking forward to some good feedback.

Thanks!

Paul
