My last employer had some sites with a CMM4 at the top. Those worked great. Zero problems. You can either replace the included switch with a similar model that has an SFP slot, or add an industrial media converter. There's a resettable accessory power port that you can use for the media converter if you go that route.

Here we're ending up with nothing but SFP's and DC power going up the tower. Telrad base stations and Trango Apex Lynx for BH.

We are seeking feedback from people that are using fiber up the tower instead of Cat5. Interested to know what equipment (power) you are running at the base, and what equipment (switches, routers, POE, Ethernet protection etc.) that you have at the top.

How is it working for you? Has having everything at the top proved to be much more stable? Its kinda scary to change from our current way of doing it, but power surges are kicking are butt, clobbering radios on the Ethernet side (mostly ePMP).

Looking forward to some good feedback.

Thanks!
