What I have learned over the years.... is that human senses (sight , sound, 
smell, taste) are very unique to each individual..... 

I have always been fascinated by folks who have studied and understand Musical 
notes, I am tone deaf.... and then I also know that there are some very popular 
ring tones used by kids under the age of 14, which cannot be heard by adults 
(cell phones ringing in classrooms, where the kids can hear them but the 
Teachers cannot !).... 

So any discussion on 'quality' of voice can get very subjective and greatly 
varied due to personal preference... 

In general, I will agree with Jaime that today's phone (Voip or Cell) have very 
poor voice quality as compared to a few years ago, but then again the uses 
their phone to talk to someone is also declining !
