Have any of you worked with an Itron collector for water meters before? They're sending mixed signals as to what they actually want from me.
I ask what they need, they say public NAT. I say you want me to do the NAT and you receive a private address or you do the NAT and you receive a public address. They say, "Yeah, public NAT." Later when I decide I'll just move ahead and make sure they can be reachable when I'm on-site to plug it in, able to adjust, they ask for information so they can send down a new configuration to the unit. They ask for external IP address, gateway, mask, DNS servers. Okay, by asking for external IP address, I assume that means I'm doing the NAT for them, but then the gateway and mask of that address would be irrelevant. They seem to have no idea what they want or minimally are severely unable to convey their thoughts. ----- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com Midwest Internet Exchange http://www.midwest-ix.com
