Thee are 1U UPS with an internal battery and an external battery connector. Just bought one from Eaton. The issue is not the battery size but that the rating is always paired with batteries of a similar size. So if you want almost no batteries you could get a 500 watt 1U UPS but then you would likely just overload the UPS if you hooked a bunch of batteries to it and loaded it with 5000 watts of load no matter how short the battery time you need is.
