Funny, all this talk about socialism etc.  Nixon was fond of wage and price 
controls.  More socialist than we remember.  I do remember the gas shortage, 
but living on a farm, we had a good supply.

But those of you who weren’t even born yet in the 70’s, you don’t remember 
waiting in lines to buy gas during the Arab oil embargo.  I think Nixon was 
President at the time, and the Arabs were mad at Nixon and Kissinger for 
supporting Israel.  I don’t think Nixon was a Socialist.

Two things wrong with that. First, what do you mean "back to"? This 
country has never been socialist, and I don't see that happening any 
time soon.

Second, the guy who made everyone stand in line for toilet paper was 
Johny Carson, and he wasn't even a politician. It was pure supply and 
demand.
